Networks, neighbourhoods and newborns

Defining household and local area influences on social connectedness to understand pathways to health

Project summary

This study examines the quantity and capacities of social connections among families with young children in two local governments areas with contrasting socioeconomic profiles. Data collected through contact diaries and surveys are used to develop computer models of social networks in different types of neighbourhoods. The findings will generate insights into how health beliefs, behaviours and infections spread through local networks.
